Asylum Diaries is a 1-channel video installation where an asylum seeker from Afghanistan reconstructs his childhood house to a scale model. The man needed to escape his home when he was very young. During the reconstruction process the man goes through his life story from the reasons of his escape and flight to contemplations of his identity and humanity. In the video his story from the childhood to present day is juctaposed to a process of building the scale model. In the video installation the scale model is presented next to the video portraying the reconstruction process. The work has been produced as part of the Refugee Air art project coordinated by Kaljonen.
